Nerja
Nerja lies on
the coast, 55 km east of Malaga. Unlike most towns on the Costa del Sol, it
happily embraces tourism without compromising its essentially Andalucian
character.
There are no high-rise buildings in the area, and very few
hotels. Holiday residences are limited to low-rise villas and apartments,
principally located in the Capistrano Villages at the edge of town.
Nerja boasts over 400 restaurants and bars catering for all
tastes, from traditional
Spanish dishes to Balti. Most restaurants welcome children and offer excellent
value. It is possible to find a 3-course meal on offer for less than €6.

If
you prefer the sea to the pool Nerja has safe, sandy beaches close by. The main
beach, Burriana Playa, has well maintained swimming and sunbathing facilities.
At the rear of the beach a line of open-air restaurants offers delicious local
delicacies such as charcoal-grilled fresh sardines. Sunday morning is the time
for the famous Burriana Playa paella lunch.
